Terms of Service

Last updated: June 2026

By installing or using N2O (“the Software”), you agree to these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree, do not use the Software.

N2O is an Obsidian community plugin that provides two-way synchronization between Notion workspaces and Obsidian vaults. The Software communicates directly with the Notion API using your personal integration token.

N2O is released under the MIT License. You are granted a non-exclusive, worldwide license to use, copy, modify, and distribute the Software in accordance with the MIT License terms.

Certain features (“Pro Features”) require a paid license:

  • Pro Monthly: $8/month - access to all Pro features.
  • Pro Annual: $80/year - the same, billed once a year.
  • Pro Lifetime: $299 one-time - permanent access to all Pro features.
  • Academic Lifetime: $79 one-time, for students and academic staff, granted after we verify a university email address.
  • Free Trial: 14-day trial of Pro features, available once per user.

A Pro license key is non-transferable and valid for one user. Licenses are purchased through Polar and cover 2 of your devices.

New users receive a free 14-day trial that includes every feature:

  • Two-way Notion and Obsidian sync
  • Up to 300 synced pages
  • Unlimited databases
  • All supported block types and property types
  • Automatic syncing in and out, and custom templates

The trial is available once per user. There is no permanent free tier. When the trial ends, an active Pro or Lifetime license is required to keep syncing. Files already synced to your vault remain yours, but no further sync runs until you upgrade.

You can pay through either of two processors. Both are merchants of record: they run the checkout, handle your payment details, and take care of any sales tax or VAT. We never see or store your card details.

  • Polar (polar.sh) is the default checkout, linked from the pricing section on our homepage.
  • Gumroad (gumroad.com) remains available if you prefer it, and is where subscriptions bought before we added Polar continue to be billed.

Whichever you use, your license key itself is issued and validated through Polar, and it works the same way in the plugin.

  • Pricing, billing cycles, and accepted payment methods are governed by the terms of whichever processor you bought through.
  • Monthly subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled.
  • You can cancel at any time, through the customer portal linked in your purchase email (Polar) or through your Gumroad account. When you cancel, you keep Pro until the end of the period you have already paid for, and it does not renew after that.
  • A free 14-day trial (no credit card required) is available so you can try every feature before you pay. That is why there is no refund window: nobody has to buy blind.
  • No refunds are issued for any purchase, monthly or lifetime. All sales are final.
  • Cancelling a monthly subscription stops future billing. It does not refund the period you are currently in, and you keep access until that period ends.
  • If you dispute a charge with your bank, Polar as merchant of record will follow the card network’s decision, and the license attached to that purchase is revoked.
  • Your notes are on your computer, and we do not have a copy. There is no N2O cloud, no backup of your vault, no index of it.
  • N2O talks straight to Notion’s API from your machine. Your note content never goes to any server of ours.
  • We do not sell your data, and we never will. See our Privacy Policy.
  • You are solely responsible for the content you sync and for maintaining backups.
  • N2O relies on the Notion API to function. Changes to the Notion API may affect N2O’s functionality.
  • N2O is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Notion Labs, Inc.
  • Notion’s API rate limits, availability, and terms of service apply to your use of N2O.
  • We are not responsible for Notion API downtime, changes, or data loss on Notion’s side.
  • N2O is an Obsidian community plugin and requires Obsidian to function.
  • N2O is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Obsidian (Dynalist Inc.)
  • Obsidian’s terms of service and plugin guidelines apply.

  • You may stop using N2O at any time by uninstalling the plugin.
  • We may terminate or suspend access to Pro features if license terms are violated.
  • Upon termination, your locally synced content remains in your vault.
